The Fingal Junior Foursomes For the Andy Desmond Trophy
The Fingal Junior Foursomes was started in 2003. The trophy, a replica of the Ardagh Chalice, was presented to the Fingal Juniors by Mrs. Sheila Desmond in memory of her late husband.
The trophy is now called the Andy Desmond Trophy and is played at Easter each year.
8 Clubs play at each of 2 venues, normally in the week before Easter. 2 rounds of Match play result in 2 teams from each venue going forward to the semi finals and final the week after Easter.
The prizes each year have been sponsored by and presented by the Desmond family. The competition in its first year of 2003, was played in Forrest Little and The Island, the clubs where Andy Desmond had been a member.
